Cameroon held Nigeria to a 2-2 result in the first-leg final round of the 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier played inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on Saturday.
Nigeria opened scoring in the game as early as the first minute through Precious Vincent, but were pegged back by the young Lionesses seven minutes later.
Then Cameroon went on to take the lead just before the half-time; turning th game completely on its head.
It will take nine minutes inside the second half for Coach Bala Nkiyu’s girls to respond to Cameroon’s strong and determined play and the goal came off the effort of Osaretin Ikekhua; from a free kick.
The results mean the Cameroon have the advantage heading into the second-leg, which comes up on 16 February.
