Team Nigeria Para Powerlifters once again, proved their mettle backing up their commonwealth games performance with yet another brilliant outing at the just concluded African Open Championships with multiple records.
A total of twelve medals – nine gold and three silver – was won by the Contingent.
Team Nigeria set three world records and two African Records in the course of the four-day event.
Led by coach Patience Igbiti, Folashade Oluwafemiayo, Bose Omolayo, Roland Ezuruike, Esther Nworgu, Latifat Tijani, Onyinyechi Gift Mark and Loveline Obiji all won gold medals in their respective individual events.
The silver medalists who represented Nigeria included Bose Bejide, Lucy Ejike and Thomas Ekure.
