No cause for alarm over Ese Brume’s drug test — Kayode Yahaya

Ese Brume’s coach, Kayode Yahaya revealed the athlete was tested after breaking the Commonwealth games record in Birmingham.

Brume had a no jump on her first attempt but bounced back to jump 6.99m to take the lead in the final and went on to set a new Games Record on Sunday.

Brume later jumped seven meters in her final attempt to become the first woman to jump that far in the history of the Commonwealth Games.

She has has been, arguably, Nigeria’s most consistent athlete over the past four years.

The gold medal came, few weeks after winning silver medal at the World Athletics Championship in Oregon, United States of America.

The coach however revealed she was summoned for a doping test after the latest achievements, but they aren’t worried about the result.

It’s our responsibility to always look at the list of the banned stuff,” He said in an interview with Brila.net.

“There are challenges though, because some of these substances are with names that you are not familiar with and if you are not medically inclined, you can miss it.”

“So we are working hard not to go into these area and any time she goes for a test, I don’t get worried, because I know we did nothing wrong,” He concluded.
