Odion Ighalo kick-start new season with a bang

Striker Odion Ighalo was on target for Al-Hilal in their first match of the 2022-2023 Saudi Arabian Premier League campaign.

Ighalo also assisted another goal as the defending Champions defeated the Al-Khaleel 2-0 on Thursday night at the King Muhammed Bin Fuad Stadium.

Ighalo broke the deadlock as early as the third minute with a fine strike from the edge of the box.

The Super Eagles star then set up Malian forward Moussa Marega in the 25th minute for Al-Hilal’s second.

The former Manchester United and Watford forward was substituted in the 88th minute and replaced by 22-year-old Saudi Arabian forward Abdullah Al-Hamdan.

There were no further goals in the second half as Al Hilal held on to their advantage.

Super Eagles star Odion Ighalo finished as the top scorer in the Saudi Professional League last season with 24 goals.

Meanwhile, Ramon Diaz’s men will be aiming to continue their impressive start when they host Al Feiha at home next Wednesday.
