Onazi wants Italy friendly for Eagles

Super Eagles vice-Captain Ogenyi Onazi has assured football fans that the Super Eagles will be ready to take on their Group opponents given adequate preparation ahead of the FIFA Mundial.

The World Cup draw which was held at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Russia, saw the Eagles drawn in Group D along with Argentina, debutant Iceland and Croatia.

It will be the fifth time Nigeria and Argentina will clash at the World Cup, while they face Croatia and Iceland for the very first time at the senior level.

Speaking in a Telephone interview with brila.net’s Chidozie Okoroji, the Super Eagles Vice Captain expressed his choice of top friendly games for the team having already played Argentina in November.

Onazi picked Italy as his preferred European Nation to play in a friendly ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Russia next year.

And reacting to the outcome of the draw, Onazi tasked the five African representatives; Nigeria, Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt to do the continent proud.

He also sought divine favour and support from the Nigeria football fans for a successful World Cup outing.

“Nothing good comes easy. Now we know our group. We will prepare mentally, physically, tactically… it’s time for Africa to make the difference. With God on our side nothing is impossible,” Onazi told brila.net

Onazi currently plays club football for Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig.

He was a member of Nigeria’s final squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and started in all four games as Nigeria were eliminated by France in the round of 16.
