Onuachu’s hat-trick moves Genk to a point within league leaders Club Brugge

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu continued his scintillating form for his Belgian club KRC Genk as he netted a hat-trick against KAS Eupen in the Jupiler league on Wednesday.

Japanese right back Junya Ito opened the scoring for Genk in the 9th minute, but the hosts leveled up five minutes later through Stef Peters.

Onuachu restored Genk’s lead in the 42nd minute with a fine finish, before converting two penalties in the 48th and 60th minutes to seal his hat-trick.

The forward has now taken his tally for the season to 18 goals in as many games in the League for Genk.

The former Midtjylland hitman was replaced by his compatriot Cyriel Dessers in the 69th minute.

The victory helped Genk to move just a point behind leader Club Brugge’s on top of the table.

The former Belgian champions have garnered 38 points from 19 matches, while Club Brugge have 39 points from same number of matches.
