Enyimba boss Fatai Osho has blamed the state of Adokiye Amiesimaka’s pitch for his side’s defeat to Rivers United on Sunday.
The People’s Elephants slumped to a 1-1 defeat in the Nigeria professional football league rescheduled game.
River United’s new acquisition Sunday Adetunji scored the winning goal against his former side after 85 minutes of action.
Speaking after the match, Fatai Osho who recently guided the Aba Elephants to the quarter-final of the CAF Confederation Cup, says he can’t fault the effort of his players and maintained the pitch didn’t allow them to play their football.
“(The players) did a lot of work, we can’t take that away from them. The surface never allowed us to play. We could have been a bit tidy with that cross, but unfortunately, we allowed it and the match has been won and lost.” he said.
The defeat left Enyimba in 7th place with 30 points, although they are just six points behind leaders Kwara United with three games in hand.
