Victor Osimhen has been ruled of Nigeria’s friendly game against Mozambique this Monday.

Osimhen started Friday’s match against Saudi Arabia, but was taken off in the second half after sustaining an injury.

Speaking to the media, Head Coach Jose Peseiro, said the Forward will undergo MRI scans to know the extent of such injuries.

The Portuguese, added that Napoli will decide if the player can feature in the next friendly against Mozambique.

“At this moment, it is my opinion, will I go and put in a player with an injury? A month’s injury, or even two? It is better to put it in his mind now,” Peseiro said during his interaction with the media after the game.

“He is going to do the test, check, and if it doesn’t improve, you must expect the club [to make the final decisions], the club pays the salary for him. Not only for Osimhen but for our players.”

On Sunday, the team announced that Osimhen has been granted permission to leave camp as a precaution, and the forward will return to Napoli for further assessment by the club’s medical team.

Victor Osimhen has six goals in eight league games for Napoli this season.

Meanwhile, Kelechi Iheanacho has also been granted permission to leave camp. The 27 year-old left on Saturday to attend to pressing personal matters, a BRL source confirmed.
