Fabio Capello believes Italian football has fallen behind and that’s the reason Victor Osimhen and other strikers who arrived from other countries are dominating.
Capello stated this following Italy’s shocking defeat to North Macedonia that ends their dream of returning to the World Cup after missing the 2018 edition.
The defeat at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, means Italy have missed out on the second successive World Cup for the first time in history.
The former AS Roma and Juventus boss explained that, Italy fallen behind other countries and that’s why they are struggling.
He posited that, the Italian Serie A is not strong enough and that’s why Osimhen and other foreign players are dominating the defenders.
“There is a high pace in European competition and we are not accustomed to it,” the ex-coach continued.
“There are not enough young Italian players, but there is a wrong idea at its base. We are the country of the back pass to the goalkeeper.
“Victor Osimhen, Romelu Lukaku and Tammy Abraham were just normal strikers abroad. They became champions in Italy. This should raise some questions.” He said.
