Ghana coach Yusuf Basigi has okayed the revamp of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nation (WAFCON) qualifying draws process that kept heavyweight teams apart.

The 2024 WAFCON qualification draw was held last week, and the likes of Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon will vie against “lesser” oppositions in the first round of qualifiers.

Basigi expressed delight with the outcome, unlike the previous tournament qualifiers when Ghana and Nigeria faced off in this same round.

“The 2024 tournament would have deprived the chance of possibly hosting two big teams; in the Super Falcons and the Black Queens if the draw format wasn’t changed,” said the Coach in a chat with BRL.
