Paul Onuachu to miss 2022 African Cup of Nations due to injury

Genk’s manager Bernd Storck has confirmed that Paul Onuachu would be out of action for about four weeks.

Onuachu was on target as Genk played out a 1-1 draw with Royal Antwerp on Sunday, and was substituted in the 70th minute after pulling his hamstrings.

He was then replaced by Ike Ugbo as Bernd Storck’s played out a 1-1 draw.

“It’s a muscle tear”, the German sighed. I already had the impression that he was tired. When I asked how it went, he told me he could continue playing. I expect we will miss him for the next three to four weeks,” said Bernd Storck told the press.

Paul Onuachu who has twelve goals in eighteen league matches this season for Genk will miss the last game of this calendar year and the home game against last-placed Beerschot on January 16.

He will also miss the 2022 African Cup of Nations with Nigeria.
