Super Eagles head coach said his team was hard done by a poor decision from the match officials against Ecuador.
The Portuguese speaking at the post-match conference said his players played better but were denied three clear penalties by the referee.
He said, “Today, we played better, it was not easy to pressure as we did in the first half, of course, I don’t want to speak about the referee, but we have at least three penalties.”
“The Goalkeeper touched the foot of our striker and if he had awarded one, we would have scored.”
“Of course no VAR, but they are clear penalties and I think we play much better than against Mexico and we had chances. Hopefully, we can score in the game.”
Villareal defender Pervis Estupiñán scored the only one in the game played at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.
