Peter Olayinka wins third league title in Czech Republic

Super Eagles forward Peter Olayinka’s Slavia Prague has won this season’s Czech league title with four games left to play.

 

Slavia Prague was confirmed as champions for the third straight season following their 5-1 victory over Victoria Plzen at home on Sunday.

 

Slavia was assured of the championship when their arch-rivals Sparta Prague were held to a draw in their game on Sunday.

 

Slavia Prague remains unbeaten in 42 consecutive league games this season and they have won the Czech Championship seven times in total since the country break away from Slovakia.

 

Olayinka who missed Sunday’s victory has scored six goals and provided three assists in 20 league appearances for Jindřich Trpišovský’s side this season.

 

The 25-year-old joined Slavia Prague from Belgian outfit KAA Gent in 2018 and has won the last three titles with them.

 

Slavia Prague will play for a place in the Czech Republic’s cup final against Sparta Prague on Wednesday.
