Pinnick confirms Foreign Coach for Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will appoint a Foreign Coach for the Super Eagles.

NFF President, Amaju Pinnick made the disclosure in an interview with Arise TV on Friday where he gave an update on the Super Eagles vacant Coaching position.

The consortium of local coaches headed by Austin Eguavoen was dismissed after Nigeria’s failed Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying bid.

Super Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup which comes up later this year, losing on away goals to Ghana in last month’s playoff.

Speaking on the mandate to find a reputable successor for Gernot Rohr, who was sacked last year, Pinnick said:

“One thing I can guarantee you is we are getting a foreign coach.

“Within the next seven to ten days, we will announce a foreign coach.”

Eguavoen replaced Gernot Rohr who was sacked in November 2021, just two months before the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
