Former Super Eagles midfielder, Garba Lawal says players such as Odion Ighalo and co must prove they deserve their places in the team, when Nigeria face Libya in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nation double header.
Ighalo scored a brace in Changchun Yatai’s league win over Tianjin Teda on Saturday, but has continued to struggle in front of goal for Nigeria – failing to score in open play, in a competitive game for the Eagles in over a year, and Lawal insists players must step up.
Lawal charged the 24 players invited for the qualifiers to live up to the standards of playing at the international level.
