Qatari club offers Okpotu $1.2m annual salary to quit US Monastir

US Monastir of Tunisia forward Anthony Okpotu reportedly edging closer to joining a Qatari club.

Reports claimed the former Lobi Stars forward and his management is holding discussions with the unnamed club regarding his future.

Qatari club reportedly offered to pay him a $1.2m annual salary, which is triple what he’s earning in Tunisia.

It would be recalled that Okpotu who finished as the Tunisia Ligue one top scorer last season admitted that he’s open to a move away from the US Monastir after helping them to end their trophy drought last week, but he didn’t reveal his likely destination.

Should he eventually depart the club, the Super Eagles striker will be sorely missed as his goals were vital to their achievements last campaign.

Okpotu helped the modest club to their first trophy ever and also fired them into CAF Confederations Cup for the first time in their history.
