Glasgow Rangers has confirmed the departure of Joe Aribo to Premier League side Southampton.
The Scottish confirmed the sale on Saturday evening via their social media handle.
Despite the rumor-making round that Southampton agreed to pay £10m for the player, Rangers however kept the transfer fee private.
The club stated that Aribo who rejected a new contract offer from Rangers joined the Saint for an undisclosed fee.
“RANGERS can today confirm the transfer of Joe Aribo to Southampton for a significant, undisclosed fee.”
“Aribo has served Rangers with distinction in the last three seasons, and leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Ibrox.”, Rangers said in a statement.
He joined Rangers from Charlton for a compensation fee in 2019, and went on to make 149 appearances for the club and scored 26 goals.
He will be remembered for a memorable strike against Braga in the Europa League in his first season when Gers produced an incredible comeback, while he was one of the crucial performers in 2020/21 as the Light Blues sealed title number 55.
Last season, Aribo played a significant part in Rangers reaching the Europa League final and securing the Scottish Cup, and he became only the fourth player to score for the club in a European final with the opener in Seville.
