Ruthless Abia Warriors whitewashed Kano Pillars

Abia Warriors thrashed Kano Pillars 4-1 on Sunday to continue their incredible run of form in the 2020-2021 Nigeria professional football league.

Pillars struggled to cope with Imama Amapakabo’s side, who were at their attacking best all through the match at the Okigwe township Stadium.

Abia Warriors took the lead in the 21st minute through Godwin Obaje who latched onto a pass from Obioma Chukwuemeka.

Obaje then turned provider for Chukwuemeka in the 34th minute to double Abia Warriors’ lead.

Pillars striker Nyima Nwagua reduced the deficit three minutes later after a good work down the middle by Auwalu Ali Malam.

Abia Warriors started the second half as they ended the first with Obaje and Chukwuemeka movement causing all sort of problems for Pillars at the back.

Chukwuemeka got his second of the game in the 59th minute after meeting Fatai Abdullahi’s delicious cross.

The hosts sealed the points with nine minutes left on the clock, Mustapha Jibreel and Anthony Okemiri combined to find Daniel Wotlai, who volleyed past Pillars goalkeeper Idris Ibrahim from 25 yards.
