Coach of Nigeria National League side Shooting stars sports club Edith Agoye has stated that the Ibadan-based side have taken the first step out of the Nigeria National League which he believes is the wrong division for a club of such pedigree following Sunday’s 3-0 win over Calabar Rovers.
Agoye speaking in a chat with brila.net after the opening win stressed that Shooting stars remains a big club in Nigeria but has been unfortunate in the recent bid for promotion back to the elite division.
He however reckons that things will be different for the side this season after a bright first step among many steps to be taken for a return to the Premier League.
“Yes, Shooting is big, we are in the wrong division but unfortunately for some years now we seem to be trying to push ourselves away from the wrong division but we pray by the grace of God if everything goes as planned this season we pray that we get back to the elite division.
It’s a very important one not only because we were able to score 3 goals but because we were able to get the three points, it’s the first step and you know the journey of a thousand miles starts with a step and we are very happy that we made the right step.”
