Stanley Eguma Eyes Super Eagles Job

Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma has made himself available for the Super Eagles job, should Jose Peseiro leave after the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Eguma is currently the longest serving coach in the Nigerian Premier Football League.

He has been in charge of Rivers United since the team was birthed through the merger of Sharks FC and Dolphins both of Port Harcourt, meanwhile he was also head coach of the former before said merger.

The 53 year-old has also won the NPFL title twice with Rivers United, in 2010/2011 and 2021/2022.

Speaking with Brila FM, Eguma noted that if things were done on merit in the country, he could be in line to get the job.

“In Nigeria, do we do things by merit? I think that is the question. He has said it rightly the way it’s supposed to be, but I’m ready to do things the right way.”

“I think we’ll get better. Of course, I will serve my fatherland, I will do my best. I will work above my capacity to see that we make Nigerians proud to achieve the desired results.”
