Switzerland edge Cameroon to prolong Africa’s wait for a win in Qatar

The Search for Africa’s first win at Qatar 2022 continues as Cameroon lost to Switzerland on Thursday.

Cameroon were beaten 1-0 by Switzerland, courtesy of a goal scored by Yaounde-born swiss attacker Breel Embolo.

Embolo struck three minutes into the second half at Al Janoub Stadium to give his adopted country the vital three points in a group that includes tournament favourites Brazil and Serbia.

The defeat means no African team has won a game at the ongoing tournament in Qatar.

Senegal were beaten by Netherlands 2-0 on Monday, while Tunisia and Morocco played goalless draw with Denmark and Croatia respectively.

Africa’s last representative Ghana lost to Portugal in their first match of the tournament.
