Taiwo Awoniyi helps Union Berlin to a vital win over Akpoguma’s Hoffenheim

The duo of Kevin Akpoguma and Taiwo Awoniyi came face to face in Bundesliga on Monday as Hoffenheim hosted Union Berlin.

Awoniyi led the attack for the visitors, while Akpoguma was deployed in his favorite defensive position and it was Union Berlin who secured a hard fought 3 – 1 win at the end.

The game saw the Nigerians stars battled for for 77th minutes, before Awoniyi was replaced.

The game was goalles until Hoffenheim were reduced to ten men as Robert Skov was sent off for fouling in the penalty box, Max Kruse however stepped up and fired into the back of the net.

Munas Dabbur  later restored the parity for Hoffenheim in the 80th, but Max Kruise again set up Joel Pohjanpalo   and Cedric Teuchert to make it 3 – 1 to Union Berlin.

The result condemned Hoffenheim to another defeat and extendedthier winless run to four Bundesliga games  (three defeats, onedraw).

Meanwhile Union Berlin, moved to seventh on the log and they remain unbeaten in their last six games (three wins, three draws).
