Team Nigeria’s 4x100m women relay team sets new African record

It was a proud moment for Nigeria 4x100m women relay team as they broke the 30-year old African record at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Oregon.

The Nigerian quartet of Joy Udo-Gabriel, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Grace Nwokocha competed in the final of the event in the early hours of Sunday.

Although the narrowly missed out on a medal after finishing fourth, but their return time of 42.22s was enough to set new African record after 30 years.

USA won race and they clinched the gold in the process with a time of 41.14s, while Jamaica picked the silver with 41.18 time.

Germany won the bronze after returning home with 42.03s and Nigeria crossed the finished lane next and broke an African record of 42.39 set in 1992.
