The best is yet to come from Iheanacho – Rodgers

Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers says the best is yet to come from Kelechi Iheanacho, despite winning the February player of the month award.

Before the international break, Iheanacho scored seven goals for the Foxes, including a hat-trick and a brace in the FA Cup against Manchester United.

The 24-year-old is enjoying the best run in front of the goal as he was rated as the best finisher in the premier league after converting five of the ten shots he took all through the month.

In an exclusive interview with Skysports, Rodgers said the player is not yet at the peak of his career and only getting better.

“No doubt,” says Rodgers. “He is not even anywhere near what you would call his asset age. That will come later in his career. He has still got so much development but I think he is enjoying his football which is important. He comes in, you see him smiling and enjoying it.

“He is one we obviously want to continue working with,” he said.

Meanwhile, there is talk of a new contract, but the striker might not feature from the start on Saturday as he only reported back from international duty on Friday morning.
