Atletico forward Rasheed Ajibade is delighted to lead the Super Falcons to her 9th FIFA World Cup appearance.
Ajibade scored the winner as the nine-time African Champions beat rivals Cameroon 1-0 in the African Cup of Nations quarter-final in Casablanca on Thursday.
The attacker rose to the highest and headed home Ifeoma Onumonu’s sumptuous cross in the second half of the encounter.
Speaking after the game, Ajibade said the team deserves a place in the FIFA World Cup.
“Nigeria could not afford to be absent for this meeting. There’s a new generation of Super Falcons, who arrive hungrily and deserve for the world to see their talent.”
“We know what we came here for, we want to leave with the cup, our decima,” Ajibade said.
Next, the Super Falcons face the passionate Moroccans and their fanatical home fans at Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah cauldron in the semifinals next Monday.
