There is healthy competition in the Super Eagles goalkeeping position now – Shorunmu

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu has stated that he sees healthy competition already in the goalkeeping position of the national team and this he believes is good for the team after an assessment of the team’s run throughout the window of the just concluded AFCON qualifiers.

Shorunmu speaking in a chat with brila.net said at this point the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is spoilt for choices considering the goalkeepers’ current form at club level and the better for the national team handler who then have to make the decision on his preferred choice or order of choice of the goalkeepers in the national team.

“I think at the moment, now we have about three or four choices now but then we are looking for the best to stand in as number one.

“I’m sure the coach himself by now will definitely know his number one. Okoye kept the first match in Porto-Novo while Uzoho kept against Lesotho. Probably the man has seen what is looking for. And again to you need to look for the second and third choices to keep that number one a fight.”
