Toothless Enyimba falters at home against Nasarawa United

Enyimba FC of Aba were held to a goalless draw by Nasarawa United in Nigeria professional football league match up in Aba on Sunday.

The People’s Elephants and the Solid Miners needed a win to keep their title hopes alive, but they managed to settle for a draw.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm early on in the game but the game later came alive in the second 45 minutes.

Nasarawa United almost draw the first blood shortly after restart when Chinedu Ohanachom headed off target from close range.

John Noble reacted quickly to keep Enyimba in the game with a fine save to deny Adamu Hassan in the 50th minute.

Enyimba improved later and were unlucky not to take the lead as Captain Austin Oladapo’s shot narrowly went wide.

Enyimba squandered two opportunities succession as the game was hitting home stretch, firstly Tosin Omoyele missed from the box,before midfielder Orok Gabriel blasted wide from the edge of the box.

Tosin Omoyele again, failed to connect Orok’s last minute pass with only an open net in front of him.

The draw leaves Enyimba in fifth place on the log in with 45 points, while Nasarawa United moved to second with 49 points, although the Solid Miners have played two games more.

Next for the People’s Elephants is a game against Abia Warriors on Wednesday in Okigwe.
