Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen made his comeback after a six-week due to a thigh injury against Atalanta on Saturday.

However, what caught the attention of fans and pundits alike was the absence of Osimhen’s trademark protective mask during the Serie A clash with Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

The Forward, who had been sidelined since a friendly match against Saudi Arabia, had previously donned the protective mask following a harrowing clash of heads with Milan Skriniar in October 2021.

Despite medical clearance last year, Osimhen continued to wear the mask, which had become a distinctive part of his image and even gained popularity among young fans worldwide.

The striker’s decision to abandon the mask is unknown but it seems Osimhen appears to be embracing a fresh start under new coach Walter Mazzarri.
