Volleyball Div 1: Sunshine Spikers returns to winning ways

Sunshine Spikers returned to winning ways by beating Niger Brass 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-21) on Day 3 at the ongoing National Volleyball League Division one in Bauchi.

After losing scandalously to Nigeria Prisons on Day 2, Sunshine Spikers wasted no time in dispatching the Minna based team.

Nigeria senior men’s team, Daniel Nathaniel led the on slaughter against Niger Brass while the likes of Afun Idowu, Tochukwu Owoh and Amos Ohwode made it easy for Sunshine Spikers to overcome Niger Brass.

The head coach of Sunshine Spikers, Adelakun Adekalu said Sunshine Spikers will ensure they do not take chances against other teams at the league.

He said losing against Prisons on Day 2 was unfortunate adding that the better team won.

Adekalu said, “I am happy the boys played well against Niger Brass today. The boys played according to my instructions and we can all see the result. Losing to Prison Boys was unfortunate but in the game of volleyball, anything can happen; the better team won the game”.

He said Sunshine Spikers will not be distracted and will focus on how to qualify for the 2020 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League as well as topping the league.

Nigeria Prisons fought hard to beat ABM of Katsina 3-2 (23-25, 25-23, 25-14, 22-25, 15-5), while Offa VC overcame resilient Kada Kings 3-2 (25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 15-12) in the last game of the day.
