Waldrum Reacts Voodoo Claims in Nigeria v Cameroon Olympic Games Qualifier

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum expressed bewilderment at allegations of voodoo practices by the Cameroonian players during the 2024 Olympic Games second-leg qualifying fixture on Monday.

The Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja witnessed an unusual incident at the start of the second half, as a Cameroonian player reportedly tried to plant ‘voodoo’ inside the Falcons’ goal post.

Tension escalated towards the game’s final moments, when Cameroon introduced a player, fueling claims that the player was sent on to touch the net in a desperate attempt to change the game’s dynamics through supernatural means.

In a video capturing the bizarre moment, the player, rushed towards the Nigerian goal to touch the net, but she was prevented from doing so by Super Falcons players.

Responding to questions about the incident, Waldrum expressed his astonishment, stating that voodoo is unfamiliar territory for him in the realm of football.

“Yes it is true. I have never seen it before but our players wouldn’t let them in our goal to use it,” thr American said.

The Super Falcons eventually won the game courtesy of Esther Okoronkwo’s first half strike.
