Watford’s Pre-season Progress Excites Maduka

It’s just early days but Maduka Okoye says life in Watford with his new teammates have been impressive and he looks forward to the season’s campaign proper.

Okoye featured in Tuesday’s pre- season friendly against Bolton Wanderers, but it ended in defeat for the Hornets.

The 22-year-old came on in the second half for Daniel Bachmann who conceded two first half goals as Bolton Wanderers ran away 2-0 winners.

Speaking after the game Okoye described his experience so far with his new side as excellent.

“Yeah fantastic, having a great time already. Funny guys, funny teammates , good vibes.

“And I think that’s important feeling connected to the players,to the staff, setting very very well.

The Nigerian also travelled with the team to Austria, as part of their preparations for the coming campaign.

“Yeah it was awesome had a good time there,we worked very hard.
“But with fun, with a smile on our face. We made good steps in the right direction in Austria.”

Okoye joined the Hornets from Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie, he’ll be aiming to help Watford gain immediate promotion to the Premier League come next season.
