Nigeria’s head coach, Jose Peseiro says the team will focus on excelling at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, and not be distracted with matters of their salaries and bonuses.

Peseiro insists his players are committed to representing Nigeria well in the AFCON, as their first priority.

Speaking at the pre-match presser before Sunday’s opening match against Equatorial Guinea, the Portuguese also urged fans to stay positive and tone down their criticism of his players particularly on social media.

“We play for the flag, for the Nigerian people. Our salaries and bonuses are the last things in our mind.

“I’d prefer not to speak about my salary.”
