“We were not good enough”- WBA defender Ajayi rues bad performance against Palace

Following West Bromwich Albion embarrassing defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday, Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi called for a quick response from the squad.

Ajayi was in action for 90 minutes as the Baggies stumbled to a 1 – 5 defeat at the Hawthorne to the rampaging Palace.

West Bromwich Albion also finished the match with ten men after Matheus Pereira was issued a straight red card for kicking out at Crystal Palace player.

Ajayi admitted that the result isn’t good enough for the club, but he suggested that they have to forget about the game as quickly as possible as there are still many matches left in the campaign.

“We need to put this result behind us because there’s a lot more to play for this season.

“We can’t let a result like this derail our season.

“We know we weren’t good enough. We will work hard to improve and hopefully, we will be a lot stronger next week.”

West Brom are 19th in the standings with six points and they will be hoping to improve their fortune when they travel to Newcastle United on Saturday, December 12.
