Women’s Football League MVP Monday Gift sets next Target after League title Success

Bayelsa Queens were crowned champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League last weekend and their star Player, Midfielder Monday Gift has described it as a big accomplishment to retain the title.

Gift netted twice against Nasarawa Amazons to help her team lift the trophy at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Sunday.

The Player who also features for Nigeria’s Women National Team, was voted MVP for her impressive season’s record of 12 goals in 10 games – she scored nine goals in five games.

“I feel really happy and grateful. What was in my mind was to help the team win Super 6 and I was glad to be able to achieve that,” the NWFL champion said after the game.

“I didn’t anticipate scoring these number of goals, but I am grateful. It means the future is bright for Gift Monday and I’ll keep working towards it. I want to show good performances every day.”

Bayelsa Queens received 12,000 USD for finishing first and they will represent Nigeria at this year’s WAFU B regional Cup.
