Women’s U17 WCQ: Olowookere Raises Concern over Flamingos’ Finishing

Nigeria U17 WNT head coach Bankole Olowookere has expressed the importance of converting chances the team gears up to face Burkina Faso in the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

Despite a commanding 9-1 victory over Soccer Talent Academy in a recent friendly match held at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja over the weekend, Olowookere expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance, particularly in front of goal.

“Despite scoring a lot of goals today, we missed a lot of chances too and we can not afford to do that in a competitive match,” the Coach stated.

“We must utilize our chances to score goals against Burkina Faso so that the return leg at home will be a walk in the park for us.”

“I have noticed one or two things that must be corrected before our next friendly match and the girls must understand the difference between training session and match situation.”

The Flamingos are set to depart from Abuja on May 8, bound for Bamako where they will clash with Burkina Faso’s U-17 women’s team on May 11 in the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
