Zaidu Sanusi suffers Champions League defeat with FC Porto

Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi was on parade for his club FC Porto who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea, in UEFA Champions League first-leg tie in Seville on Wednesday.

Sanusi who was rested for the weekend’s league clash against his former club Santa Clara returned to the lineup and featured for the entire duration of the match.

The 24-year-old however had a below-par performance on the night as he was at fault for the Chelsea opener scored by Mason Mount in the 32nd minute.

The young English midfielder collected a pass from Joginho on the edge of the box and left Sanusi stranded on the floor with a superb turn before firing low into the corner.

Summer signing Ben Chilwell scored the second with five minutes left on the clocks after pouncing a loose pass from Porto defender Jesus Corona, before rounding the keep and slot into an empty net.

Both side will return to the same venue, Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on the 18th of April for the return leg.

Sanusi has now featured in nine Champions League match for the Sergio Conceicao’s side this season and scored just once.
