Zaidu Sanusi’s Return Boost Injury-hit Super Eagles

Zaidu Sanusi made his long awaited return from injury in Porto’s Champions League clash with Royal Antwerp at the Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday night.

Sanusi was named in the starting lineup after being sidelined for nearly seven weeks.

The former Santa Clara full-back’s last appearance for the club was on September 19 when they faced Shakhtar Donetsk.

On his return to action, he played for 83 minutes, committed one foul, executed two tackles, and successfully completed 43 passes.

Zaidu Sanusi’s return comes as a relief for Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro, who could be without Bruno Onyemaechi and Jamilu Collins for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe coming up soon.

The 26-year-old remains Nigeria’s primary choice at left back, although with competition from Onyemeachi and Collins.
