Sigurdsson Hails Iwobi’s Instant Everton Impact

Everton midfielder Gyfil Sigurdsson has hailed Super Eagles attacker Alex Iwobi for the impact on the team, since his arrival from the Gunners in the summer.

Iwobi moved to the Merseyside club after ending his 14 years stay at Arsenal and has hit the ground running, by scoring twice for the Marco Silva’s men.

The Nigeria international has enjoyed a great review since his debut at the Villa Park last month, when he shone like a million Stars, in spite of the team’s 2-0 defeat.

Speaking on the Club’s summer arrivals, Sigurdsson believes Iwobi is gradually playing himself into the heart of the Everton faithful and added that player will grow in confidence as the season progresses.

“Of course, for him (Iwobi), for an attacking player, it’s nice to get that first goal early on,”

“It’s good for the confidence and all of the other boys, not just him, [with] Fabian [Delph] coming back from injury and Djibril [Sidibe, who made his Everton debut against Lincoln City] there’s good depth in the squad at the moment.

“Hopefully, the boys who have been injured and not in the squad can really push us because we need every player in the squad.”

Iwobi is currently in Super Eagles camp preparing for Tuesday’s international friendly game against Ukraine in Dnipro.
