The Super Eagles will play Guinea-Bissau in their last Group game of the 2021 African Cup of and head coach has explained, why it’s a must win game for the team.
The Super Eagles have been confirmed as Group D winner, thanks to back to back win over Pharaohs of Egypt and Sudan’s Falcons of Jediane.
The game against Guinea-Bissau is a dead-rubber according to many, but Eguaveon dismissed the suggestion revealed, why the boys have to secure the maximum points.
“It is important for us to sustain the winning mentality while we keep our heads on our shoulders. Just as I told the boys after the match against Egypt, we are yet to win anything here except points.
“Guinea Bissau need the three points because they have only one so far and we must be prepared for a massive fight. If we let down our guard, we could be punished, and that would not be good for the team’s psychology. We will go for the three points.” He said.
Nigeria sits on top of the table with six points after two games. They are followed by Egypt — with three points, while Guinea-Bissau and Sudan have a point each.
