Southampton are edging closer to signing Nigerian Midfielder Joe Aribo from Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers.

Aribo is a priority for the Saints and they have began negotiation with his club over a potential transfer.

The fee could be around £10m including add-ons have been reported and discussions could see an agreement reached within the next 48 hours.

Aribo, 25, rejected a fresh deal at Rangers and could sign a four-year deal with Southampton on Thursday.

Similarly, the Player reportedly rejected advances from Nottingham Forest, who signed his international teammate Taiwo Awoniyi in this transfer window.

Crystal Palace and Fulham have also been credited with interests in the former Charlton Athletic midfielder.

Aribo, played more games and minutes than anyone in the world last season as he racked up the miles for both club and country.

The player was due to link up with his team-mates in Portugal on Thursday but he’s currently in London, waiting to have to medical.
