Babayaro Lauds Rohr’s invitation of Four NPFL Players for Corsica Camp

The invitation of four NPFL based players for the Super Eagles Corsica camp later this month has been lauded by former Goalkeeper, Emmanuel Babayaro.

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has been criticized for his preference of foreign based players and the calls for more “home based” players in the team had come from major stakeholders in the NPFL.

In a chat with brila.net after the announcement of the 25-man list for the 24 May Corsica camp, Babayaro said the move to invite four players from the NPFL was commendable, but charged the German tactician to extend the gesture to more ‘stand out’ players in the league.

Babayaro stressed that the quality in the league has improved, massively, and thus it should reflect on the opportunity for those players to represent the Country.

MFM duo, Stephen Odey and Olatubosun Sikiru as well as Akwa United‘s Alhassan Ibrahim and goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa of FC Ifeanyi Ubah were all called up for the camp exercise in France ahead of June’s Afcon qualifier against South Africa.
