Super Eagles Jose Peseiro confirmed Calvin Bassey is a major doubt for the friendly against Portugal.

Bassey reported to the camp in Lisbon, despite sustaining a minor injury during Ajax Amsterdam’s league game with FC Emmen over the weekend.

The 22-year-old hasn’t been able to shrug off the knock and will undergo a late fitness test to ascertain his readiness for the game.

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro stated that the versatile defender will have to pass a late fitness test to feature against the former European champions.

“We have rested him (Bassey) and I hope we can play,” Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro told NFF TV.

“Tomorrow, he will have a test to know whether he can play or not.”

Bassey has been super regular since Jose Peseiro was appointed, featuring in three games.

He’ll be hoping to fit the friendly billed for Estadio Jose Alvalade. Kick-off is 7.45 pm Nigeria time.
