Rafael Benitez has jumped to the defense of Alex Iwobi, after his poor performance in Everton’s defeat to West Ham United on Sunday.
Iwobi returned to action after missing the last three game for Club and Country last week.
However, The 25-year-old failed to impress as the Toffees bowed to their visitors 1-0 at the Goodison Park.
Iwobi missed two glorious chances, before Angelo Ogbonna scored the goal that won West Ham United the game.
Speaking after the defeat, Benitez failed to criticise the player for the misses, and insisted the coaches will continue to give him and other players the needed support to excel for the club.
“I can see [Alex] Iwobi giving us more. We can talk about chances but we have to use the squad and have to ensure we give the players confidence and that we support them.” He told the post match conference.
