Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has heaped praises on Nigeria’s striker Kelechi Iheanacho after scoring hitting a brace against Sporting Braga on Thursday .
Iheanacho stole the show once again as he scored a brace and assisted other two goals to help Leicester City to a comfortable 4 – 0 win Europa league over Braga.
The 24-year-old has now been directly involved in five goals in just two Europa League starts for the Foxes this season.
In his post match conference, Rodgers described Iheanacho display as excellent and praised him for helping the club maintain thier momentum in the absence of Jamie Vardy.
“He’s (Iheanacho) a boy who I see every day in training, I know when I put him in he gives his all. His first goal was fantastic, he’s scored another one, created the third for Dennis.
” He’s always ready, he knows Jamie Vardy’s one of the best strikers in the world, but he plays a wonderful part in ensuring we continue with our momentum and I thought he was excellent,” he said.
On the overall team performance, Rodgers has this to say : “We had to work for it. By the end, we were very good, it was a tight first half, with a couple of things to put right in terms of our defending. But second half, after we got the goal we were very dynamic, very strong. We created a number of chances, and it ended up as a great victory for us.’
Leicester City are sitting on top of their Group with nine maximum points from the matches played so far.
