Feyenoord will trade tackles with Olympique Marseille in the semi-finals of the Conference League and Cyriel Dessers has described the game as the biggest of his career.
Dessers is Feyenoord’s top scorer in the competition having notched eight in ten games for the Rotterdam based team.
All eyes will be on the Nigerian when Feyenoord host former French League and Champions winner at the De Kuip for the first leg on Thursday.
Speaking with Feyenoord’s website Dessers said, he’s looking to the first leg against the French.
“We don’t want it to stop now. I follow the French league and Marseille is a team that has a lot of the same principles as we do.
“They are the number two from France, it goes without saying that they have a very good team.”
“They have a few defenders who have been transferred for twenty or thirty million. But we are confident. Especially if we play as we usually have played in Europe, I think we have a good chance of pushing through.”
De Kuip will be filled to the brim on Thursday for the arrival of Olympique Marseille and Dessers opined that, they can’t afford to fail the fans.
“I’m incredibly looking forward to it”, Dessers beams. “I expect this to be one of the best matches of my career.”
“We have to perform for the fans and give ourselves a chance to progress to the final,” He concluded.
