Courtney Dike and Ini Umotong leads Falcons to victory over UMF Solfoss

The Super Falcons of Nigeria continued their preparation for the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France with a warm-up game against Icelandic side UMF Solfoss at the Pinatar Arena in Spain on Friday.

The African Champions proved to be too much for UMF Solfoss as they strolled to a 6-1 victory on a Friday evening.

 

UMF Solfoss broke the deadlock in the  31st minute when Reimus Magda grabbed the opening goal of the game.

 

Their joy was cut short 12th minutes later with Uchenna Kanu equalizing in the 42nd minute as both teams at went into halftime break with nothing to separate them.

 

In the second half, the Thomas Dennerby’s side produced a total dominance display as they went on to score five goals,  Courtney Dike put Nigeria ahead in the 57th minute, English based Ini Umotong scored twice to earn a brace in the 62nd and 69th minute.

 

However, Courtney Dike added two goals hat-trick in 72nd and 76th minutes respectively to complete her hat trick.

 

Goal Keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was particularly impressive as she pulled a great save to deny their Icelandic opponents a comeback chance in the 89th minute.

 

The team will next take on Canada on the 8th of April as part of the preparation for the World Cup in France.
