Dennis’ goal lifts Nottingham Forest above Leicester City

Emmanuel Dennis was on target for Nottingham Forest in their 1-1 draw against Aston Villa at the City Ground Stadium on Monday.

It was his first goal for Forest since his move from Championship side last summer.

Dennis who scored ten goals and assisted six for the Hornet last season was handed a starting role in the game, while his compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi was dropped to the bench.

And it took the Nigerian international just fifteen minutes to make his mark on the game.

The former Club Brugge man connected with a perfectly executed free kick from Morgan Gibbs-White, heading into the back of net to put the Tricky Trees in front.

However, the lead did not last for long as Ashley Young equalized seven minutes later with a strike from outside.

Dennis, 24, was later substituted for Sam Surridge in the second half of the game.

There was no further goals in the second half as both sides failed to create clear cut chances.

The point was enough to lift Forest back above Leicester, while Steven Gerrard’s side remain in 16th having been unable to secure the win that would have taken them ninth.
