D’tigress seals Afrobasket quarter final spot with win over Egypt

Defending champions, D’Tigress have qualified for the quarter final of the ongoing 2023 Women’s Afrobasket Championship with convincing win over Egypt.

D’tigress this Sunday at the BK Arena in Kigali made it a back-to-back win in their group as they defeated Egypt in a thrilling 83-65 game.

 

Amy Okonkwo was in the heart of victory, recording a double-double with 29 points and 13 rebounds. She also had 4 assists.

 

Murjanatu Musa was instrumental in the victory as she scored 17 points for the coach Rena Wakama’s side.

 

D’tigress started the game slowly, but finished the first quarter stronger than they started, winning 18-10.

 

The team then blew the Egyptians apart in the second quarter, going into the break with 42-23 lead.

 

The Egyptians however turned up the tempo after the break, closing the gap with several three pointers in the third quarter to take the scores to 56-42.

 

The Egyptians soon ran out of steel, leaving D’tigress to dominate the rest of game.
