Eguaveon proud to lead Super Eagles to AFCON round 16

Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen is proud of the Super Eagles performance against Sudan on Saturday.

The Super Eagles defeated Sudan 3-1 in their second Africa Cup of Nations Group D game and book their place in the round of 16.

Goals from Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi and Moses Simon won the tie for Nigeria and put them in commanding position.

“We have won our first two games and I am very proud,” Eguavoen said in a post-match press conference.

“We played really well and I am very pleased with the performance.”

“No game comes easy. We knew it was going to be tough and tried as much as possible to be ready for any opponent that comes our way.”

“What we say this evening (Saturday) was expected. We are excited to have pulled through. It’s easier said than done.

“We tried to trump the cards. There are 24 teams at the tournament. Everybody has the chance and that motivated Sudan.

“We watched their game against Guinea-Bissau but today we saw them change.” He said.
