Francis Uzoho’s Omonia Nicosia bow out of Europa League without a point

Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho was in action for Cypriot giants Omonia Nicosia in their last Group game against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday.

The shot stopper had a great game, but was beaten with two minutes left to play in the regulation time as Omonia lost 1-0.

It was Nigerian forward Ibrahim Akanbi who got the goal for Sheriff Tiraspol to send them through to the round of 32 of the Europa Conference League.

Akanbi, however will miss Sheriff Tiraspol’s round of 32 first leg game in the Europa Conference League, as he was yellow carded in the game.

For Uzoho and his teammates, they will have to pick themselves up quickly as they return to action on Monday.

They’ll travel to Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium to face in form Aris Timmasol in a must win game.

Timmasol are second on the table with 22 points from possible 30, while Omonia Nicosia are ninth on the table with just twelve points from same number of games.
